Methods of Professional Carpet Cleaning

Methods of Professional Carpet Cleaning

There are many choices when it comes to selecting a local carpet cleaning company, but in order to not choose the wrong one, you need to know a bit more about the different methods of professional carpet cleaning. Here they are:

Steam Carpet Cleaning Method

Also known as hot water extraction cleaning, this method uses hot water under high pressure to agitate the fibres and dissolve the dirt accumulated in them. It also involves the use of cleaning solution that is spread over the surface and agitated on the carpet with brush. Then, the carpet is rinsed using a specialized carpet cleaning equipment that extracts everything, the cleaning agent along with the dirt water into a large container. No residue is left behind and it takes about 4-5 hours for the carpet to dry after the cleaning process before you being able to use it again.

Shampooing Carpet Cleaning Method

Although this method has been widely used in the past for heavily soiled carpets, because of its disadvantages it is replaced by the encapsulation technology. Among the cons of this method are*&

  • the residue that consists of wet foam that re-attracts new dirt soon;
  • long time for drying;
  • the sticky effect, since no rinsing is applied on the carpet.

Encapsulation carpet cleaning method

This method uses synthetic detergents that are placed on the surface and left for some time to crystallize and turn into powder. The chemicals attract the soil and dirt and encapsulate them. After that the cleaning technician thoroughly vacuums the carpet to remove the powder along with the dirt.

This method uses much less water compared to the other cleaning methods above, which ensures a short drying time. It is preferred by businesses who would like to start using the carpets as soon as possible after the cleaning.

However, there are two drawbacks of this method: first, it offers only short-term cleanness, as it cleans only the carpet’s surface; and second, this method uses chemicals, so it is inappropriate for families with little kids, pets or people with breathing issues.

Bonnet Carpet Cleaning Method

This method also provides good surface cleanness, but cannot efficiently clean the lower layers of the carpet. It is applied with the help of a heavy duty machine that features a spinning pad. It is first immersed in the cleaning solution and then absorbs the dirt accumulated on the surface.

This method is mainly used in hotels when they need a quick fix for public areas of high traffic. Almost no moisture is used in the process; the waiting period for drying is very short, which means no inconvenience will be caused to the hotel guests. Yet, because it is only a short term cleaning method, it means that the next bonnet cleaning should be performed much sooner compared to the steam carpet cleaning method.

Dry Carpet Cleaning Method

Another very popular method used these days that applies cleaning powder or compound with a rotating brush machine that reach the bottom of the carpet is a dry carpet cleaning method. Many of the cleaning companies now use cleaning powder made of biodegradable materials, which means they do not harm people’s health.
